A Fully Renovated RedLeif.io

“If you’re not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late.”

-Reid Hoffman

If there was such a thing as The Gospel for Startups, this truth from Reid Hoffman would almost certainly be recited as much as any verse in the book. So accepted within startup circles, this quote about the timing and comfort of product launches has almost become cliche. But here’s the thing about a cliche, it was once novel. The repetition of a timeless truth, repeated often enough is what turns something so original and wise into a saying to which we become desensitized.

What I’ve always found so interesting about this quote is the way it is received and reacted to outside of the startup community. The reactions from friends in more traditional industries or professions to me admitting to them that I’m embarrassed by the current version of “X” have been priceless. “You can’t say that!”, “are you trying to run business off?!?, and “don’t tell anyone else that ever again!” are all responses I’ve heard. Seeing the market from their perspectives, I get it. They come from a world of tested and validated products and/or services.

What they understandably miss, is that like a cliche that was once a new and profound statement, the established product or service began as nothing more than a concept in need of testing and validation. Ironically in that moment and because they are friends who care, they have more fear of me failing than I do.

As we continue on this journey to build a new and different kind of digital agency, we’re excited to share our progress with you. We know there’s a long way to go and we’re committed to going the distance. With that in mind, we’re excited to introduce you to a completely renovated (and much less embarrassing) RedLeif.io.

Check it out and tell us what you think.
